FITNESS TIP OF THE WEEK:  THE PROOF’S IN THE PUDDINGcopy-of-2005-vegas-0451

I attended Robb Wolf’s CrossFit nutrition certification in Jacksonville, Florida this weekend and can’t say when I have been more impressed.  The information presented was cutting edge, unconventional and flys in the face of politically correct nutrition and the diet dictocrats such as the American Heart Association and the American Diabetic Association.  If they were right, would Americans be as sick and fat as they are?  Well, what should you eat for health, performance, aesthetics and longevity?  Meats, fish, fowl, vegetables, some fruit, little starch and no sugar.  I know, you’ve heard that before but I cannot make nutrition ANY simpler and this will provdie signifcant ROI.  It bears repeating.

The cert was a wealth of information; to summarize low grain and low carbohydrate diets treat hypoglycemia, heart disease, diabetes, auto immune diseases, cancer and nearly ALL chronic illness.  A perfect example of this is a client of ours, Steve.  He is 55 years old, trains his ass off 4 days a week and recently switched to a primarily Paleo diet after doing our Metabolic Typing profile.  Bloodwork a mere 4 weeks later showed total cholesterol down from 240 to 163 with a significant drop in triglyceride levels (hence, the refined carb reduction), blood pressure 116/72 and an overall excellent physical report.  Weight (fat loss) is down 12 pounds in less than a month and he feels a lot better.  Steve is not atypical of our clients–they get results.  This stuff works!  And no, that is not him in the picture.

Eating right and training intensely will benefit you in many ways in addition to physiologicallly.  You will feel better, perform better and look better.  The proof’s in the pudding, but not if you eat it!
