Athletes of the Month: Chris V. and Nat A.

Chris and Nat have been a joy to get to know over my time at CrossFit Jaguar. Both of them are some of the hardest working members we have. They are always trying to out lift, out, out burpee their last scores. Not only are they hard workers, but some of the friendliest people I know. They never hesitate to introduce themselves to someone new and make them feel like they have been here for 5 years.  I would like to say thank you for everything you ladies do.

1. What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?

Chris – Wow can’t believe it’s been 7 years since we joined! My first experience with CrossFit was through Groupon discount coupon. I really enjoyed the challenge and loved the coaches. Nathalia and I and went back and forth about joining full time and realized the extra money was worth it.

Nat – I discovered CrossFit through a $25/month coupon. I checked out Jaguar’s website, and although it looked intense, I decided to give it a try. I had been working out at a regular gym for years and was always looking for something different to break up the monotony. I was immediately hooked but after the month was over I returned to my normal routine because I wasn’t convinced that I wanted to spend the extra money to join. Well, it didn’t take long for me to decide the extra money was worth it and seven years later, I’m still here.

2. What is your favorite thing about CrossFit Jaguar?

Chris – I really enjoy our community and the many activities we have enjoyed together over the years.

Nat – I really enjoy the community at CrossFit Jaguar.

3. What has been your favorite thing about the gym?

Chris – I’m so glad that I have my 5:45am group class aka The Breakfast Club. These people motivate me more than they will ever know.

Nat – I have made so many friends through CrossFit Jaguar and Chris and I always joke that our social calendar has become very busy because of it.

4. What goals are you currently working on?

Chris – A year and half ago I had hip replacement surgery and it has been an up hill battle getting back to what I was capable of before surgery. Now my goals are to get my numbers back up on my lifts. It’s been a slow process but it’s getting there.

Nat – My goals are to stay strong and healthy so that I can continue to enjoy my retirement.

5. What is your favorite cheat meal?

Chris – My favorite cheat food would probably be ice cream, cake or doughnuts. Desserts are my kryptonite!!!!!

Nat – As far as cheat meals go, I don’t have one in particular but I do enjoy trying new restaurants. I try to eat clean during the week so that I can enjoy eating out on Saturdays.

6. What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining CrossFit Jaguar?

Chris – I would tell anyone thinking of joining CrossFit to just come in try it and you will not be disappointed, and you’ll meet so many great people in the process.

Nat – A lot of people look at CrossFit and think that it’s not something that they can do. Everything can be modified to your level. Just give it a try and you might surprise yourself.
