Athlete of the Month: Sunny Parsons

“If you are looking for Sunny in class, you can usually find him laying on the floor by the fan. Not because he is lazy, but more so because he gives 110% every day, I think this character trait really defines who he is. It’s been almost a year since Sunny has joined us at CrossFit Jaguar and he has come a long way. Everyday his fitness continues to improve. Not to mention he is really friendly and pushes other members in class. Thank you for all your hard work!”

1. What brought you to CrossFit in the first place?

I tried the globo gyms and had done several other video workout programs (i.e. Insanity and P90x). One day I heard about CrossFit and started doing it with a group of friends where we would make up random workouts with CrossFit movements. I haven’t gone back since. I love the competitive nature of CrossFit but also the technical part. There is always something I want to get better at or lift heavier or accomplish for the first time. I remember coming up with 40-minute AMRAPS with my friends that were crazy competitive. That was back when I was a little younger and had more time, but it got me started on the CrossFit path.

2. What is your favorite thing about CrossFit Jaguar?

The coaches at CFJ are all very nice and make some great programming. I don’t have to wonder if the workout will be good. it will be. With not much free time these days I know I can come to the gym, work hard and head home knowing I got a good workout in.

3. What has been your favorite thing about the gym?

I enjoy showing up, working hard, and pushing myself to be better each day. I don’t have to worry about any drama or people who don’t want to be there. The facilities are very nice and have everything needed for a great CrossFit workout.

4. What goals are you currently working on?

My life has been hectic this entire year, but I try to make a point to make it to the gym. I just want to stay in shape, get stronger and be able to keep up with my kids as they get older.

5. What is your favorite cheat meal?

This is the one area I could get better at. I’d have to say my favorite cheat meal is probably a cheeseburger and fries….and Starbucks… lots of Starbucks…

6. What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining CrossFit Jaguar?

Don’t wait! Life is short. There’s never going to be “the right time to join”. Just jump in. You won’t regret it.
